Fontaine Is New Chief Education Officer

Melena Fontaine has been appointed as Dominica’s new Chief Education Officer (Ag) effective Friday July 5, 2013.

The announcement was made earlier today by Chandler Hyacinth, Permanent Secretary (Ag), Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development.

Fontaine takes over from Mr. Stephenson Hyacinth, who served in the position for 12 years and is now the Permanent Secretary (Ag) in the Ministry of National Security, Immigration and Labour.

Melena Fontaine served previously as Coordinator-Special Education and Focal Point for the Child Friendly School Initiative.

Mrs. Fontaine holds a Bachelor in Education degree from the University of the West Indies and a Master in Education degree from the University of Massachusetts –Amherst Massachusetts. She is currently a PhD candidate with the University of Massachusetts.
